안녕하세요, family and friends. Today, we are reading Genesis 11.
Don’t worry if you don’t have a physical copy of the Bible. You can read it on Page 2 of this blog post.
When I first read this passage about the Tower of Babel, I thought why would God let us be confused and not understand each other? I mean,
The Lord said, “If as one people speaking the same language they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them.
Genesis 11:6 NIV
Nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them? Doesn’t that mean, there would be less lost in translation and more understanding on each part? We would definitely be able to be better human beings in this way, surely?
But, of course that wasn’t the point. It took me awhile to realise but the people in the story of the Tower of Babel were proud and were defying God. They wanted to show off their abilities to make the Tower and refused to do what God has told them to, which was to “be fruitful and increase in number and fill the earth.”-Genesis 9:1 NIV instead they made a city and there they spent their lives trying to build the tower.
Do you think I’m missing an important message from this passage? Please let me know if you do.
