Genesis 15

안녕하세요, family and friends. Today we’re going to read Genesis 15.

Don’t worry if you don’t have a physical copy of the Bible. You can read it on Page 2 of this blog post.

There’s a lot to get from this passage but I would like us to focus on this verse in particular because I think it’s very timely.

After this, the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision: “Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your very great reward. ”

Genesis 15:1 NIV

The Lord’s first words to Abram was ‘do not be afraid’ because the Lord knew what he was feeling. The Lord knew of the thoughts that’s been troubling his mind and wanted to reassure him. There was nothing to be afraid of because the Lord is with him.

‘I am your shield’, a piece of armour that can intercept attacks. Though a usual shield can only be good for physical attacks, the Lord is different. For he does not only defend physically but also mentally and emotionally.

‘(I am) your very great reward’. The Lord is Abram’s saviour and salvation. He alone can provide Abram what he desires and needs. In this earth and in our times this is still true to all those who believe in him. To all who believes in Jesus Christ, our Lord.

So, we shouldn’t be afraid of this pandemic. For he will deflect any type of attacks towards us may it be physically, emotionally or mentally. The Lord God will be our shield, as long as we continue to believe in him and follow his commandments. We will be saved for he is our very great reward.
