Genesis 37

안녕하세요, family and friends. Today, we’re going to read Genesis 37.

Don’t worry if you don’t have a physical copy of the Bible. You can read this chapter on page 2 of this blog post.

Now, this passage starts with emphasizing how feelings of hatred against someone can show in the way you talk about them. It will be hard to say anything positive because hatred is such a strong negative emotion.

I would like to encourage everyone to observe their feelings and take control by focusing on either the positive or, in my case, being indifferent about the negative altogether.

This passage also has the beginning of Joseph the Dreamer’s story, which teaches us a few things:

  1. God sometimes speaks to us in dreams, although his primary way of conversing with us is through the scriptures.
  2. Be considerate to the people around when you’re speaking. We do have the freedom to say what we want to say but don’t abuse that freedom with thoughtless speeches.
  3. Being lukewarm about anything will seldom go in your way. As we saw from Joseph’s brother Reuben when he tried to save Joseph from the hands of their brothers who wanted to kill him. Reuben may have saved Joseph from being killed but he wasn’t able to bring Joseph home to his father.
