Exodus 1

안녕하세요, family and friends. Today we’re reading Exodus 1.

Don’t worry if you don’t have a physical copy of the Bible. You can read it on Page 2 of this blog post.

This chapter is a good example of how history, no matter how important, can end up forgotten. By having ignorant leaders who have the power to dictate their own selfish agendas to their people.

It is also a reminder that envy, jealousy or fear of being deposed could lead to a bloody path. As shown by how this King of Egypt let the darkness of envy cloud his judgement and ordered the death of all new Hebrew-born males.

On the other hand, it is also a reminder that even though the Scriptures says to obey the law of the land you’re in.

If the law is against the word of the Lord, as this was, it is possible for you to disobey it and still be blessed by God.

But the midwives feared God, and so they did not act according to the precept of the king of Egypt, but they kept the males safe. And summoning them, the king said, “What did you intend to do, so that you would save the boys?” They responded: “The Hebrew women are not like the Egyptian women. For they themselves have the wisdom of a midwife, and so they give birth before we can come to them.” Therefore, God acted favorably toward the midwives. And the people increased, and they were strengthened exceedingly. And because the midwives feared God, he built houses for them.
