A Reflection of 2020

I didn’t realize it until today but there were so many manifestations this year. I didn’t realize it until today because of everything else that was happening in the world and in my own personal life. So, here’s a reflection of 2020.

I’m writing this for the future me. In case you ever look back on this year and think that it was all doom and gloom. I’m here to tell you that it wasn’t.

Girl! Little things matter. You can’t be looking at the bigger picture all the time! We have a balance to uphold.

Now, straighten up, smile, or smirk (whichever is easiest at this moment), and continue on reading a reflection of 2020.

Let’s start off by saying that you have gotten your freedom! The freedom to do whatever the heck you want because you are living on your own and by yourself. Truly. Paying the bills and budgeting and stuff. You’ve done that!

Another thing is you’re clean! I don’t necessarily mean your room but the room is tidy too actually. You were able to clean up after yourself when you got back from ‘le hometown’ to spend Christmas with the cousins. Anyway, I meant you’re clean as in the air is good (no smokers in sight). The food too is good! Although there are still some takeaways here and there, most of the time it’s fresh food! You’ve even started drinking fruit juice and I mean real fruit juice. That’s a huge jump. Let’s just keep quiet about it though for now, if the cousins find out you’d be the centre of the circus next get together.

Anyway, another real achievement is you were able to get through the online class! Yes, sure you had your downtimes when online fatigue got the best of you but hey? You did learn a few things right? I mean, you learnt there was still a lot for you to learn and that’s a good thing.

“Accepting there’s a problem is the first step in solving it, right?”

At least that’s what I’ve heard and I’m going with it.

Oh, and can I just quickly brush over the fact that you and your S.O. have gotten closer even though you’re actually still 18,329 km away from each other. The ship is pretty sturdy, let’s just say that. It’s not yet ready to fully set sail but the foundations are good. And you’re both happy! The immediate families seem excited for the ship to get off the docks, too. So, that’s always a plus.

Talking about the immediate family? Your brother and sister both got approved this year! Both of them are now able to work and have national insurance. Although, your dream of seeing them graduate with a degree is still in progress. I mean, I’m not actually sure if that’s what they want but they can do whatever. As long as they’re happy right? It’s their life. As long as you can still annoy the heck out of them and love them, we’re okay. Just waiting on Mamang and Papang now, I’m sure it won’t be long until they get theirs, too.

Your faith was tested but you got through it and it’s pretty powerful. Jesus Christ is very powerful. Our GOD is very powerful.

“I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.”

Philippians 3:14

  2. 2020 was a tough year. I feel like 2020 was the toughest year yet. 2020 did have a great effect on me, my mental health, my mind, and my overall being but I am very determined to put my broken pieces back together. I love reflecting on each year because reflecting on each year helps me see what I did well, what I didn’t do well, it gives room for improvement and it helps me work towards doing better. I hope 2021 is kinder to us all. Great post x!

    1. I’m really glad that even though 2020 was a tough year you were able to have some good too! It matters to still have balance no matter how bad things get there’s always a good. It’s been a while since I’ve actually reflected on a year and this reflection was probably one of the very few. Anyway, here’s to more improvements and achievements in 2021! Thank you so much x!
